Claire Pilaar


Claire specializes in soft IP with a focus on copyrights, media law and trademarks. She has been involved in cases regarding the protection of intellectual property rights in the digital age and the enforcement of trademark rights for various well-known trademark proprietors.
Claire completed two master's degrees, one of which with honours ('cum laude') in Civil Law at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam and in Information Law at the Institute for Information Law (IVIR) of the University of Amsterdam. She wrote her master's theses on the secondary liability of intermediaries and on the regulation of sensitive personal data.
Claire has been with one of the predecessors of AC&R, Hofhuis Alkema Groen, since 2018, where she worked as a paralegal and later as a lawyer. Claire was admitted to the Bar in 2021.

In the Netherlands Bar’s register of legal practice areas (rechtsgebiedenregister), Claire Pilaar has registered 'Intellectual Property Law' as her legal practice area. Based on this registration, Claire is required to obtain ten training credits per calendar year in this legal practice area in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar.
